Certified Sustainable
Our Blue Mussels have earned "Friend of the Sea" certification, which is only the second in Australia and demonstrates Spring Bay Seafoods determined commitment to quality, sustainability and the environment.
"Spring Bay Seafoods mussel production is surely an example to be followed by the whole aquaculture industry. You rarely find a company so dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability,"
said Paolo Bray, Director of Friend of the Sea.
Certified Organic
Since 1986, the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) has rigorously evaluated the practices and standards of primary producers seeking Organic Certification.
Spring Bay Seafoods has certification – this is both prestigious and a guarantee of organic integrity, a verification of Spring Bay Seafoods' support for sustainable agricultural practices.
Global Gold
Spring Bay Seafoods has also won a coveted "Friend of the Sea" global award. The Friend of the Sea Aquaculture Award for sustainability is the highest accolade a producer can attain.
Spring Bay is the first shellfish company in the world to win the award and be recognised globally for its best practice and contribution to working with an ecologically friendly and sustainable marine habitat.
Vogue
The 2009 Vogue Entertaining + Travel Produce Awards have recognised Spring Bay Seafoods as the winner of the "Vogue Food Heritage / Sustainability Award".
Alla Wolf-Tasker, who was one of the judges, and is an Australian living legend in the food industry said, "They're using really exemplary farming methods, in the forefront of the world's best practice. It's so very good to see."
©-STAR Award
Spring Bay Seafoods won the 2008 ©-STAR Award for its unique method for packaging live chilled Tasmanian mussels. The mussels are kept alive and fresh in a specially designed oxygen-rich atmosphere for nine days from their harvest date. This enables the mussels to stay fresh for longer, improving customer satisfaction and distributor convenience.
©-STAR Award judges were impressed with Spring Bay Seafoods investment in Research and Development and the company's work to achieve rapid sales growth and market penetration since the product was launched in 2008.
